Marc Straub Announces Reelection Campaign for Douglas County Commissioner, District 3
Douglas County, WA – Marc Straub has announced his campaign for reelection as Douglas County Commissioner for District 3, seeking a third term to continue serving the community he calls home.
Straub lives in Orondo with his wife, and together they have four adult children who remain active throughout the greater Valley. They are also proud grandparents to four grandchildren, with one more on the way. His deep roots in the community continue to shape his approach to leadership — grounded in local values, relationships, and a long-term commitment to the area.
After two terms in office, Straub's campaign focuses on steady leadership, practical decision-making, and a continued commitment to the people, families, and businesses that make Douglas County strong.
Since first taking office, Straub has worked to support economic development, maintain essential county infrastructure, reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens, protect property rights, strengthen public safety, and address local housing challenges. His campaign is centered on building on that foundation while staying grounded in the needs and values of the community.
Notably, Straub has helped lead key initiatives such as the McNeil Canyon Road Realignment Project, a critical safety effort to re-route a section of roadway north of the existing alignment and improve long-term travel safety for residents and commuters. In addition to his work at the County level, he has represented Douglas County on multiple regional boards, including the Washington Counties Risk Pool, where Straub currently serves on the executive committee as Second Vice President.
"It's been a true honor to serve this community the past two terms, and I'm running again because there's still work to be done," said Straub. "This job, to me, is about showing up, listening to people, and making steady, thoughtful decisions that stand the test of time. We've made meaningful progress together, but there's more ahead and I'd be grateful for the opportunity to keep serving the place we all call home."
Throughout his time in office, Straub has earned recognition from colleagues, local leaders, and organizations across the political spectrum for his collaborative approach, thoughtful leadership, and his ability to deliver tangible outcomes for Douglas County communities. His leadership style emphasizes listening first, building consensus, and focusing on results over rhetoric.
Straub emphasizes that experience and consistency matter, especially at the local level, where decisions directly impact day-to-day life.
"Douglas County doesn't need noise or quick promises; it needs steady leadership that understands the community and follows through," Straub added.
Throughout his service, Straub has focused on responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, supporting essential services, and making decisions with long-term impact in mind. A third term, he says, means continuing the work already in motion — finishing what's been started and ensuring Douglas County remains a strong, stable place to live, work, and raise a family.
